Tourism Investment Will Benefit Croatia’s Property Market

Property investors should take great pleasure in learning that the Croatian National Tourist Board has long range, mature, ambitious yet sustainable plans for the strong promotion of Croatia as an idyllic place to visit - with attractions across the nation being highlighted and the overall appeal of the country promoted from 2007 onwards.

This level of tourism investment will benefit Croatia’s property market today and for the future, and it is a credit to the government of Croatia as well as the Croatian National Tourist Board that the current country promotion plans in place and about to be launched are so mature and already well researched and established.  For those seeking the best investment property options in Croatia consider targeting tourism industry residential and commercial demand directly.

Broadly defined - the plans will highlight the delights of the nation to the wider world with initial tourism attraction focus being placed on Northern Europe, America and Canada.  The campaigns will introduce the diversity of attractions throughout Croatia and are very important for attracting as broad a spectrum of overseas interest as possible.

Tourism patterns can be cyclical - where one year beach holidays are in favour the next year adventure holidays may be fashionable for example - and what’s more, depending on the age and demographic make up of a group of tourists, one group might want to visit sites of historical interest where others might want to visit sites of retail therapy interest!

The Croatian National Tourist Board is aware of these factors which is why it has campaigns aimed at promoting the beaches, the islands, the ski resorts, the mountains, the ancient buildings and towns, the palaces and castles, the natural beauty of the interior, the wellness and entertainment options in the country and also the cuisine and local culture.

The plans in place are certainly ambitious in their scope – but already they are paying dividends.  The American Tourism Society is coming to Croatia for its Spring Conference as a show of support for the nation and its tourism ambitions, and members of the Society have already heralded Croatia as ‘one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe.’

Gwyneth Paltrow, Tom Cruise and Sean Connery have all recently discovered the delights of a holiday in Croatia and where the celebrities head the rest of us duly follow!

In terms of numbers and statistics…the current tourism promotion plans should net at least a 2% increase in overseas visitor numbers over the next 12 months and result in a 5% increase in revenue derived from the tourism market in Croatia according to the Tourist Board’s projections.  Over the longer term it is hoped that the promotion of Croatia will draw increasing numbers of tourists annually for at least the next 8 years.

Boosting these figures will be the fact that more cheap flight operators are targeting Croatia now for new routes and Croatia has ambitious but realistic plans to be the next country into the European Union.

This proves that Croatia is one of the most exciting emerging markets for a property investor to consider at the current time with long term potential for strong rental yields the minimum likely achievable from an investment made into well located property in Croatia.
